Social Concerns
Current Social Concerns Project
Ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine
The ministry of Joseph & Mary’s Home cares for 21 medically fragile homeless adults by providing medical respite after hospitalization. About 80 patients are cared for per year. Upon transition to other housing sources after recovery, a “gift bag” of essentials helps them begin a new life with hope an dignity.
St. Bernadette Parish is blessed to assist with a goal of 40 items of each listed below. Gifts need to be “small” but not travel items. If we exceed our goal, other service agencies who care for the needy will benefit from your generosity. A Sign-Up Genius link is available to indicate needed items. Parishioners are welcome to donate on the weekend of May 23 and 24.

We, the parish of St. Bernadette, believe:
Catholic Social Teachings of the Church is a rich treasury of the heart of Christ.
Human beings are social. Man cannot live without love, and love does not exist in isolation.
Support of society
in economics and politics, in law and policy directly effects human dignity and the capacity of individuals to grow in community.
Every life is sacred,
and all people are worthy of respect from conception through natural death.
As followers of Christ, in solidarity with the poor and powerless of society,
e offer our words, prayers and actions.
Catholic Social Teaching
The Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. It is a central and essential element of our faith and is a call to action founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ. (USCCB)
