Children's Liturgy of the Word

Helping young children encounter God’s Word in a way they can understand and live.

Who's it for?

Children ages 3–8 who have not yet received their First Eucharist are invited to participate.

What is Children's Liturgy of the Word?

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a special celebration of the Sunday Scripture readings designed specifically for young children. The readings and reflections are presented in age-appropriate language, helping children connect God’s Word to their everyday lives.

When?

Every Sunday during the 8:30 a.m. Mass

Where?

Children begin Mass with the whole parish community. Before the first reading, the priest invites the children to come forward. Together, they proceed to the Community Room, where they hear and reflect on the Sunday readings.

After the Prayers of the Faithful, the children return to the church and rejoin their families and the parish community for the celebration of the Eucharist.

Why Children’s Liturgy of the Word?

Children’s Liturgy of the Word gives young children the opportunity to:

• Hear and understand the Sunday readings at their level
• Reflect on how God’s Word applies to their everyday lives
• Participate more fully in the Liturgy
• Grow in their love for the Mass
• Develop a deeper relationship with Jesus

Parents and parishioners are invited to help! Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a small but growing ministry, and we would love to welcome more moms, dads, and volunteers.

No teaching experience is necessary. All you need is a desire to help children encounter and respond to God’s Word.
